Scotty passed away suddenly on October 6, 2016 at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 23 years. Scotty is survived by his parents Debbie and Rodney Tates; Sister Kayla (Peter Knelsen); brother Ryan (Carissa); Nephew and niece Lucas and Emma; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and his Oma and Grandfather. He was predeceased by his grandparents John and Patricia Ross, his Opa, uncles: John Tates and John Gulle. Scotty had a smile that was contagious, he would light up a room with the sound of his laugh. The love he had for his family and friends was endless. Anyone and everyone that met him instantly fell in love with him. Scotty loved helping his dad on the racecar and going racing on Thursday nights. One of his favorite places to go was Hillock every summer to go camping. Scotty loved getting on his bike and going anywhere he could. Throwing the football around in the back yard with his Dad and brother. Scotty and his family always enjoyed playing racing games on the Play Station, Scotty never liked being told to shut it down. Scotty would use any excuse in the book to go to St. Pierre with mom; he loved helping mom and dad rake leaves so we could jump in them. The funeral service was held Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the Morris Fellowship Chapel. The family wishes to thank Dan Drouin for always being there for Scotty no matter what. All of our family and friends for all their care and support during this difficult time; the St. Pierre drop in centre for always having their doors open when it was needed. In Scotty’s memory, donations may be made to the family (Debbie and Rod Tates) or the YFC St. Pierre (Cinema Station St. Pierre).
