Obituary of Bruce Third

On June 3rd at 9:05 in the morning Bruce passed away peacefully at the age of 59 years after a long fight with numerous medical conditions losing his fight to calciphylaxis.

Bruce will be forever remembered and leaves to mourn his wife of 27 years Dolores, his children Melissa (Joel), Nickolas, and parents-in-law David and Helen Martens. He was predeceased by his parents Isobel (Mac) and Del Third in 1988 and his brother Don in 2009. He also leaves to mourn many family and friends.

Bruce was born on November 10th, 1958 and spent majority of his life living in Morris. After high school Bruce attended Red River College and received his diploma in commercial cooking and chef training. He worked as a chef for 17 years and was known for his restaurant Brooster’s where he hired and met the love of his life Dolores which he later turned into Sweet Tooth Café as well as many events catered at the Big M Centre. After having children Bruce then took his Real Estate license and for 20 years enjoyed working as a real estate agent for Heritage Realty and then Border Real Estate until in fall of 2015 when he was no longer able to work.

Bruce loved living in Morris and took pride in his Town. He enjoyed participating in as many Town events as possible. He loved volunteering and served on many boards throughout the years such as, Legion, Morris Area Foundation, Fairview Place, Morris Minor Hockey, Hockey Manitoba, Town Council, Morris & District Chamber of Commerce, Morris Area Senior Services, United Church Board, Lions, Day Care, Triple R Community Futures, Red River Basin Board, Valley Ag Society, Morris Community Development Corporation and Stampeders Senior Hockey. His favorite part about Morris was being able to participate in Town Council and keeping up with the Town events. He knew everyone, loved meeting new people and took on many roles throughout the community. He will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, Health Science Center and Morris General Hospital as well as all of the love and support from family, friends and the community.

A memorial service in memory of Bruce will be held on Friday June 8th, 2018 at 3:00pm at the Morris Fellowship Chapel. Memorial donations in memory of Bruce may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart & Stroke Foundation or The Kidney Foundation.
