Gary and Pauline Love donated to MACTAQUAC BAPTIST CHURCH
Friday, January 21, 2022
A donation has been made to the Mactaquac Baptist Church in memory of Steven. The memories of growing up with Steven, similar to a brother, will always be fresh to me. We shared many great times together. He was best man at our wedding (and even photo bombed some of our photos for which we did not mind). Pauline and I extend our sympathy to Jody, Mark, Jonathon, Bethany and families. You are in our prayers and thoughts.

I went thru 6 months of training at Depot with Steve, Troop 11. We survived the crap they put us thru. I know we were better men for it. We were both posted to "D" division. I had trouble in training but Steve was a good troop mate. God bless Steve. RIP

So sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. Steve and I were both stationed in and around Winnipeg in the 70s and early 80s and we worked in the same office (desks three feet apart!) in HQ Ottawa for a year or so. I will always remember Steve for his calm professionalism, encouraging and helpful approach and his kindness. His smile and dry sense of humour topped this off. As life goes, Steve and I lost touch, but the times we did meet and the year or so we worked together left a deep, lasting and positive impression.

I cannot even write all the childhood memories of Steven but will share a few. Steven and Gary used to send us down to road and wave when the bus was coming. Of course if our bigger brothers wanted us to do this, of course Richard and I would do it. They always knew when the bus was getting closer because we would be waving our arms like crazy.
Richard and I did get back at them when we got measles and we would get up every morning and count our spots to see if we got any more over night. Steven and Gary were really peppered with them. They were not happy with us.
Grand Lake was a wonderful memory. Steven and Gary always had friends there water skiing. I was always fascinated watching them ski. Steven bought a solemn ski and I never did learn to go on just one ski.
Needless to say Christmas morning was the same every year. Richard and I were up wanting to go see what Santa brought us and we weren’t allowed to see until Steven and Gary were up. Anyone who knows Steven he didn’t like getting up early. He and Gary kept sending us downstairs and we always went back up until they got up. They certainly weren’t happy with us but we were happy.
I remember the day he left to go into the RCMP. Mum and Dad drove him to the train station but we weren’t allowed to go. That was a really hard time seeing him drive away but not as hard as him not getting Christmas leave but New Years from Regina. We waited to celebrate Christmas at New Year’s so we could celebrate all together. I didn’t even mind that though as my brother would be there with us. I truly loved my big brother.
These are just a very few of my memories of my big brother Steven.
I will always have a lot of memories of Steven and he will always be in my heart. Love you Steven. Until we meet again
