Obituary of Rita Covernton

Born and October 8, 1936 and passed away peacefully April 25, 2022. Mom, ever organized, wrote her own obituary years ago-So here it goes…. Beloved wife of Chas and proud mother/grandmother/great-grandmother, of daughter Janice (Brian) son Patrick( Diana), daughter-in-law Karen; grandchildren Kieran (Jill), Ainsley (Caden) , Julia, Rachael, Nathanael, Jessica, and great grandchildren, Bear and Evren. Brother-in-law Alan Covernton as well as her sister-in-law, neighbour and friend of many years Claudia Schmidt; as well as many numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. Rita had a wonderful and productive life living on the Covernton farm and in the town of Morris. She loved her teaching years; 5 of them in small rural one-room schools in and around Morris, and 24 years at Morris School. Rita also spent many happy hours in retirement with her decorating business and volunteering in her community. The family would like to thank the staff of Misericordia Place,MP2 and Heavenly Care, for the kindness and compassion given to Rita over the last few years of her life. A private family funeral is to take place. However the family welcomes you to a reception honoring Rita on May 29th, 2:30 pm at the Morris Multiplex. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, donations to the Misericordia Health Centre Foundation, Valley Regional Library, or to a charity of choice are appreciated.
