Obituary of Donald Edel

Donald Graham Edel of Morris, Manitoba was born on June 19, 1951 and passed away on February 19, 2023 in St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 71 years, following a lengthy illness. Don is survived by his wife Shelley (Paschke), daughters Kimberly (Adam) Atkinson, Charlene (Tony) Nikkel and Brooke (Soni) Raiqiso, grandchildren Gideon, Malakai, Jude, Victoria, Hudson, Madelyn, Zula, Kekoa and Nova, brother Melvin (Elaine) Edel, sister Ellie (Erhard) Keck, brother Ed (Evelyn) Edel, sister in law Ellie Edel, brother in law Robert (Gaylene) Paschke and many nieces and nephews. Don is predeceased by his parents Arthur and Elsie Edel, brother Nelson (Beatrice) Edel, brother Lesley Edel and nephew Bobbie Edel. Don was generous, an encourager, a story teller, father figure and mentor to many. His sense of humour was legendary and will live on through all who knew him. He enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. He had a huge love for people and was especially concerned that they meet Jesus. As he grew older he became dissatisfied with his spiritual walk and religion. The Holy Spirit began to lead him deeper into renewed vision and purpose. God used him to bring healing to many during his travels and he was continuously leading people into a personal relationship with Jesus. Don continued to mentor them in their faith walk over many years. This continued until his final breath. He started his career as a farmer in the Broadview area and later in life enjoyed being a part of harvest with his brother and nephews. Don started Valley Agro and Valley Steel with his brother Les in Morris. He pioneered the use of aeration in grain storage. He sponsored many aeration clinics across Western Canada. His many titles included Bank President (Australia), Executive Director for Haggai Institute (Canada), Deacon and Sunday school teacher at Morris Emmanuel Baptist Church, Board Director for Island Breeze (Fiji), Chosen People Ministries and Evangelical World Organization Canada. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2022 at 11:00am at Morris Emmanuel Baptist Church. A private family graveside service will happen prior to the memorial. No viewing will take place. The family wishes to thank Dr. Fraser and the staff at Morris Hospital, Rick and Brenda Lehman for their unconditional love, friendship and support for Don and family and all those who have supported and loved us well.
