Obituary of Eleanor Parkinson

Eleanor Janet Parkenson (nee Burnett) August 17, 1928 - May 12,2023 Went peacefully to be with the Lord Jesus, on Friday, May 12, 2023, in her 95th year, with her loving family surrounding her at the Morris General Hospital. Eleanor is survived by her children, Hugh (Judy), Kelly Batten (Kirk), Drew (Barbara), and Ward (Janine); grandchildren Kim Lindstrom (Joshua), David, Charity, Jared Batten, Max (Kara), Kyle (Danae), Amanda, Rachel James (Jordan) and James (Becca); great grandchildren Caleb, Jesse and Ezra Lindstrom; Connor, Dominic and Sophie Parkinson; Everly and Callen James. Eleanor is predeceased by the love of her life, David (2003) her parents, James (1982) and Agnes Burnett (1996) and brothers Kelvin (2018) and Robert (1993). Eleanor was born in Lachine, QC, she and David were married on September 24, 1949 and raised their family in Dorval, QC. Eleanor’s passion was serving the Lord in various aspects of church ministry, including teaching Sunday School and VBS, Deacon ministry, secretarial work, bookkeeping (until her 90th year!) in several churches in Dorval, Ottawa, Mississauga and in their retirement years, Morris. A beautiful woman of God who loved well and who was loved by all who knew her, she was described as everyone’s “favourite” – she certainly was her family’s. Eleanor possessed an uncanny sense of humour! Full of fun and wit, she possessed a beautiful spirit and humble heart. She was an avid gardener, loved reading, knitting, crosswords, Jeopardy, but most of all loving her family in being a faithful prayer warrior for them. Her family adored Mom, Grandma, GiGi, she will be greatly missed by her family, friends and neighbours. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, May 17th, 2023 at 2 pm at Morris Fellowship Chapel. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ann Loewen, Nursing Staff at Morris General, her friends at MFC, and Mom’s close neighbours, Cathy, Nicole and Brian, who always watched out for her. Donations can be made to the Canadian Bible Society or The Bread Basket.
