Obituary of Cameron Bartel

With immense shock and grief, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, papa, son, brother and uncle on September 26th, 2024. Cameron Bartel was born February 22nd, 1968 to Jacob and Tina Bartel, the youngest of 8 children. He grew up on the family farm helping with gathering eggs and grain farming alongside his dad. His family was very special to him, and the times spent working, singing and sharing a good home-cooked meal together were cherished memories of his. He attended public school until grade 2 and took the remaining years of his education at Prairie View School. He was always quick to finish his assignments, was advanced in his class and enjoyed helping his classmates. His early jobs were at Rempel Service, Horizon Agro, Petura Seeds and Reimer Express. He loved the connections he made with fellow drivers and enjoyed the different sights he got to see while travelling across Canada. He met Debbie in 1990 and their relationship grew into a deep found love for each other. In anticipation of marriage, he felt it best to leave long distance trucking and pursued farming on his dad’s land. His knack for fixing small engines inspired his establishing Cam’s Service. Cam and Debbie were married on June 11th of 1994 and settled into Cam’s small starter home together on River Road North in Rosenort. After weather related setbacks, he decided grain farming was not a viable career path for them and subsequently purchased a hog farm on highway 23. Operating the existing hog barn brought its own challenges and two years later, plans began on a new barn. The flood of 1997 also brought many changes including the welcoming of their first born, Kailyn Deanna. After the flood, the focus was in building up the yard, moving their house to the raised area and building a new shop. In December of 1999, they were blessed with the birth of their son, Dylan Matthew. Their family became complete with the arrival of Brandon Andrew in July of 2002. Cam’s love of farming continued as he purchased a swather, offering his services for custom swathing over the course of 25 years. Driving truck was still an interest of his, and North Star Transport provided that opportunity in the winter months. In 2015, he invested in a Peterbilt truck and a new side dump trailer. Dirt hauling became a career for him until his passing. He excelled at what he did and thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of the crew at Dirt Pro and the many other local hauling companies he worked alongside with. He was known for his efficiency, attention to detail and commitment to his work. Family time was important to Cam, and he made that a priority through many road trips that involved camping, sight-seeing and visiting family and friends. The latter years sparked an interest in tropical vacationing, and together he and Debbie enjoyed Cuba, Mexico and the Dominican. Two years ago, after locally seeing and purchasing a motorcycle, his love of nature brought about many trips with Debbie and with friends. His fun and adventurous spirit was evident when he was with people and he made friends wherever he went. Music was a part of him; there was always a song to fit the occasion! Projects were something he thrived on and he did them with purpose and determination. He was resourceful, innovative and mechanically inclined. He appreciated his church family at Pleasant Valley Church where he volunteered his time in the sound booth and sang soprano in the quartet group. He accepted Christ as his Savior, and his faith was evident in the way he lived his life and raised his family. He served God by serving others! His generosity and compassion was appreciated by his neighbors, family, and friends. Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife Debbie, his children, Kailyn (DK), Dylan (Kathryn), Brandon, his granddaughter, London, and two unborn grandchildren. Also surviving him are his parents, Jake and Tina, mother-in-law, Marlene, his siblings Rick (Lois), Gladys (Murray), Betty, Grace (Robin), Sylvia (Alvin), Jerry (Lois) and Pat (Jack), numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 at Rosenort EMC at 2:00 pm with private burial preceding. Viewing and a time of sharing will be held Monday, October 7th, 2024 at Rosenort EMC at 7:00 pm. A heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre & Health Sciences Centre for their urgent and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage anyone who wishes to honor Cam’s memory to donate blood to Canadian Blood Services.
