Obituary of Luc Joseph Raymond Sabourin
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Luc Joseph Raymond Sabourin, 89, on December 3, 2024, at Morris General Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.
Luc is survived by his loving wife Yvette (Lafond) and his two sons, Paul (Chrystal) and Rossel (Bonnie). His cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren: Colin (Michelle) children Bella and Olivia, Marc (Melanie) children Remi and Noah, Karine (Travis) children Everett, Bennett, and Barrett, Kristen (Marc), Berit (Devante), and Wyatt. He is also survived by his brother, Marc, sister-in-law’s Corrine and Therese and brother-in-law Donat.
Luc was predeceased by his parents, Ulric and Elizabeth, and his siblings Florence (Gerard), Cecile (Roland), Rose (Louis), Theodore (Bella), Lucie (Norbert), Amedee, Denise, Lorraine (Bernard), and Roland.
Born in St. Jean Baptiste, Manitoba, on August 21, 1935. He grew up with a deep connection to his roots, beginning his farming career at the age of 12. A passionate, successful and a straight shooter farmer, Luc dedicated his life to the land and found immense joy in the work he loved, especially his beloved John Deere combines.
Luc’s career was not without its challenges. Dealing with the notorious Red River flooding and the laborious task of building ice roads to access his farm were just a few of the obstacles he faced. But Luc’s resilience and determination saw him through these hardships, and he continued to thrive in his farming career despite the tough conditions. Luc's life was also marked by his love of dealing with salesmen over buying and selling equipment, whether it was a tractor, a combine, or anything in between. Luc was always up for a good deal finishing with a bit of fun and a cold beer in the process.
Luc leaves behind a legacy of love and pride in his family, as well as a circle of friends whom he enjoyed travelling, fishing, curling, socializing and hockey on TV. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled in those around him. Luc will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A very special word of appreciation to Dr. Micheal Fraser and all staff of the Morris General Hospital for their care and kindness.
