Obituary of Esther Wiebe

Esther Wiebe (nee Lozano) passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at St. Pierre Hospital in St. Pierre, Manitoba at the age of 75. She is survived by her children Leonard, Ernie (Amanda), Jaime (Dianne) and Sarah, as well as her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents Juan (1973) & Anna (2003), her brother Antonio (1935), her brother Rodolfo (2002), her brother Ernesto (2011), her brother Pedro (2017), and her husband Henry (2018). Esther was born in Mexico on May 16, 1948 and helped on the family farm with her brothers and sister. Esther married Henry Wiebe on September 25, 1966 and ran a dairy and wheat farm with their 4 children. In 1982, the family moved to Canada and settled permanently in Rosenort, Manitoba where Esther enjoyed being a housewife and raising her children. Esther was always a hard worker and strived to do her best at everything she did. She casually started working by cleaning houses until she got a permanent job in the tarp department at Midland Manufacturing until it closed. She then successfully took the health care aide course through the Red River Valley College and enjoyed her fulfilling 17-year career at the Red River Valley Lodge in Morris, Manitoba until she retired. Esther enjoyed multiple hobbies such as travelling, gardening, knitting, sewing, but especially loved cooking and baking. For those that were lucky enough to eat her meals and baked goods know that she was a fantastic cook and baker! It gave her immense joy to feed family and friends. But her favourite pastime was spending time and building memories with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. During her battle with multiple myeloma cancer since the May 2016 diagnosis, she found great comfort in her Lord and Saviour, and faced her 7.5 year journey with grace and an ever-positive outlook. In the midst our sorrow, we are filled with joy knowing that Esther is rejoicing in Heaven with Jesus for eternity, free from all pain. That gives us great peace. She will be forever loved and missed. A funeral service will be held for Esther on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Rosenort Fellowship Chapel, 65 Frontage Road, Rosenort, Manitoba. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Pierre Hospital for the wonderful care they gave Mom during her three week stay, especially during her time in Palliative Care. And our deepest gratitude goes to the healthcare teams at CancerCare Manitoba McDermot and Buhler CancerCare for their care and support throughout her 7.5 year cancer journey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
