Obituary of James Pott

With profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved James (Jim) Pott on April 21, 2024. Jim was blessed with 2 special women throughout his lifetime where he built his legacy. In his earlier years, he courted Claudette Ross and he is survived by their 3 children Cheryl (Brian Spence), Micheal and Ashely. He is also survived by his grandchildren Hannah Spence, Gideon Dalupang, Mason Spence, Caden Pott and Andre Pott. In his next chapter, he met Diana Huff who had 3 girls that he took under his wing –Airelle and Alexa Smith and Shelby Richards (Gage). To round out his ever-growing family to become what Jim referred to as “Eight is Enough”, he and Diana gave birth to a set of twins, Kristian and Kiana (Chaz Hanna). Jim is also survived by his grandchildren William Chabot-Pott, Nolan Pott, Wayne Hanna, Skylar Hanna and Kimberly Richards. Jim leaves behind his mother Margaret Pott (nee Cowan) and sisters Lorna Rempel and Tammy Anstett (Mike) along with their families Greg, Jeremy and Evan Anstett and Joshua Rempel. He was predeceased by his father Lorne Pott on October 9, 2012. Jim was born in Stonewall Manitoba and raised in the Woodmore community on a small hobby farm. He attended Roseau Valley Collegiate in Dominion City and graduated in 1988. Jim was a member of the Woodmore Combined 4-H Club for many years usually taking woodworking as his chosen project. After graduation, Jim went to work at Burns Meats in Winnipeg. He later moved back to his roots in the Ridgeville area working at Hy-Life in the hog production industry. Jim loved to spend his daysoff traveling to Winnipeg to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Jim was a good friend and longtime board member of the Ridgeville Community Club. The Club was his home away from home where he could often be found enjoying a Labatt’s Lite& clamato with a game of cribbage and visiting with friends. He also enjoyed playing baseball in the beer league and making friends in other nearby communities. Funeral services will be held at Ridgeville Community Hall on Saturday May 4th, 2024, at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Ridgeville Community Club or the Ridgeville Hall Committee.
