Sixty years ago, Jean and I, along with Gil Chenier, Randy MacMillan and the rest of 102 Platoon of the Queen's Own Rifles Depot met in Calgary to start our six month Recruit Training at Currie Barracks on a cold January in 1962, we remained friends all these years. We were all posted to the 2nd Battalion Queen's Own Rifles, B Company and continued out training on Sarcee Camp and Wainwright. In 1967 we were tasked by the United Nations to serve as Peacekeepers on the Island of Cyprus to maintain the peace between the Greek and Turk forces. As we all know of his dedication to the Canadian Forces and then the Royal Canadian Legion right up to his hospital admission, as a soldier, they didn't come any better, as a friend, well we lasted some 60 years., Rest Jean Rest

A more generous person you would not find. Uncle Jean made a point of phoning regularly to catch up on all the news of the family. Never a bad word and lots of little stories.
When my daughter and I flew to Manitoba to look at a horse Uncle Jean insisted he and Sam pick us up at the airport, drove us way out to see the horse, fed us supper and made sure we made it back to the airport.
The next Christmas uncle Jean, Sue and Sam drove out and came for a visit and insisted on seeing the horse and my daughter and her family. Lol
My condolences Sue and Sam. He will be missed. Hugs
