When I was a little girl and went to Manikel’s to play with Dale and Tanis I thought auntie Genevieve was soo cool . She always looked beautiful Wore high heels with spikes and lipstick, smoked ; had beautiful flower gardens and laughed a lot. She had a mischievous tinkle on her eye. Later ,now I am way older, the impression remainder. She was a very fun person talkative and interested in what you were up to . She like grandma McClelland was opinionated politically and we could always have a full and interesting discussion over a glass of wine.
It was awesome to see aunties Bernice Margaret and Genevieve at the reunion in Oregon ( thanks for the pics Carol , and aunties Irene Margaret and Genevieve at the piano with song books in 2018.
I was especially pleased to host her and Tanis at our cottage visiting with Margaret Carol and Dennis in 2018. We had a couple of lovely days . Auntie Genevieve could take our tram to the dock and I treasure the pictures of Margaret and Genevieve visiting on the loungers in the sun by the water. Thanks Tanis for bringing her and making that a reality .
My sincerest sympathies to all my Manikel cousins . So hard to lose a parent but she accomplished a lot every day and had a lot of days so that’s something that all of you can be proud and thankful for . See you next week . Love Mona

Auntie Genevieve was always so kind and welcoming to me. I have so many fond memories of visiting her and Uncle Eddie at the farm. Her flowers and yard were so beautiful and were her pride and joy. You could always count on her for lots of humorous stories and laughs. She was a devoted wife, mother, and great-grandmother— her family was the most important to you. She had a very full life and will be missed. Our condolences, Merilee McClelland and Orval Procter

I would interact with Mrs Manikel as she was our neighbour to the north of the Sabourin farm. While visiting Barrie, she would always have a smile and a genuine interest in how I was doing. I also remember helping to harvest in the neighbouhood of the house, she came along with fresh bread and homemade jelly, along with juice. So yummy and such a kind gesture! She was a genuine pioneer who worked so hard for her family and toiled diligently to make her garden and yard look so nice. What a sweet person. Thoughts to all family members, what a great clan.

Hello to all Aunt Marge and all my cousins, relatives and friends of my Dear Aunt Genevieve. Visiting Canada is up there with my best lifetime memories. Many of them involve one summer I was maybe 12 or younger. The Manikel farm definitely made an impression! Aunt Genevieve and Uncle Eddie were really welcoming, the whole huge house filled with love and smiling cousins! At first I felt intimidated by all these boy cousins! Luckily Tannis was there to even it out a little! Aunt Genevieve showed me up to Tannis's room which I thought was the prettiest bedroom ever, for a princess. Aunt G deserved an award for interior design! Wow! After this great meal we went down to the room where there were shelves of jars of food that Aunt G had preserved. I'm mean like a store, and she would ask one of the boys to bring her pickles or jam, whatever, they could just run down and get another one! I was so impressed by that! Just like a store! Outside I remember getting a tour of acres and acres of crops and of course on a tractor. But I'm always so proud to tell people how my cousins taught me to drive a stick shift truck in the wheat? corn? what's a rapeseed? field in Canada! When I was 12! That was definitely the most fun I ever had up to that point in my life! I'm pretty sure it was Randy that taught me but Dale and I took turns too and I just couldn't believe we could go anywhere in that truck and and no adults and they knew and it was ok! Wowee! When we would come back inside A G. would be telling the funniest stories and everyone laughing. And that's a memory for sure! Her laugh was like no other! A little like Aunt Bernice's but distinctively her own! And she did it often and Uncle Eddie would join in and you could just tell these are people loving life! And I love you all and will forever love Aunt Genevieve!
May I just say how grateful I feel to be born into a family of McClellands! God has so blessed all of us with Grandparents who knew, loved and feared Our Lord Jesus Christ! And every generation since has continued in that blessing! Love, Ruthie Haynes,McClelland
